The rural cooperative “La Unidad” emerged eight decades ago as the result of the well done work, the tradition and the continuous improvement effort made by people from Monterrubio de la Serena.
Nowadays, our Cooperative is constituted by almost 1.000 active partners from the producing regions of La Serena, La Siberia and Campiña Sur de Badajoz, besides the border areas of Los Pedroches and Alto Guadiato (Córdoba).
“La Unidad” has more than 8.000 hectares of olive groves. Its average production of olives exceeds 20.000.000 kilograms, reaching 28.000.000 kilograms of olives in some seasons.
Our production of olive oil surpasses 4.000.000 kilograms, reaching the figure of 6.000.000 kilograms in some seasons.
The rural Cooperative “La Unidad” is a consolidated business reality based on the production and subsequent marketing of extra virgin olive oil, whose production remains faithful to its origins, as well as, it is constantly updated to improve the quality of our oils.
In order to obtain our extra virgin olive oil, we collect, directly and exclusively, the green and fresh olives at their optimum maturity stage, and then they are carried carefully to the olive press with the objective of avoiding damages. The most important varieties of olives are Picual and Cornezuelo. These types of olives transmit own sensory attributes to our oils making them very tasty. This is an oil with a particularly fruity aroma, with reminiscences to freshly cut grass and a balanced and soft taste.
